Excursion destinations in the Upper Palatinate
The landscape in the district of Tirschenreuth, in the north of the Upper Palatinate, is characterised by numerous fish ponds and extensive spruce forests on the heights. The mountain ranges of the Fichtelgebirge, Steinwald and Kohlwald. In the south-east, the Upper Palatinate Forest offers hikers ideal conditions.
The highest elevations include the Platte (946 m) and the Plößberg (820 m) in the Steinwald and the Entenbühl (901 m) in the Oberpfälzer Wald. The district is also known for its porcelain, which can be bought everywhere in the district town, and carp, which is on the menu in every restaurant.
