Development of this workshop
I (Frank B. Leder) experienced the professional percussionist and drummer Nils Tannert at concerts in 2014. In 2015, I attended one of his workshops as a participant and practised playing the large taiko drums as a beginner under Nils' guidance. Wow, that's fun! I realised: Nils has mastered the taiko (= Japanese for drum played with sticks), and He is also an excellent Taiko teacher with a great sense of humour. We became friends. For the first time in June 16, we brought our expertise together on an equal footing in a workshop, the structure of which we have been developing ever since. We will be holding this workshop for the seventh time in 2026. We are a dynamic team. We are both passionate experts in our subject areas and we complement each other well by taking it in turns to lead.
TouchLife and Taiko - how do they go together?
Alternating. Mornings: You drum in the group on the Taiko. Afternoons: You will learn about giving and receiving massages using the TouchLife method. Evening: Meditation, shamanic drum journey, dancing, relaxation. What's special: The workshop content flows together, influencing and inspiring each other.
The workshop „TouchLife and the Way of White Taiko“ invites you to experience Taiko in combination with mindful touch. Previous knowledge (neither-nor) is not required.
„We play the drums. Tune in. Meet each other. Mindful touch gives us lightness and relaxation. A sense of rhythm and strength arises from playing the taiko, inspires the next physical experience, changes the way we can use our hands to give other people an experience of centring and orientation, a feeling of centre and inner peace. We explore the links between massage and drumming.“
