Module 1: Introduction and the basics of the breathing therapy profession for working with clients

Description: Introduction to and practical application of the breathing profession in client work

In this module of our training programme to become a professional breathwork therapist, we explore the fundamentals of one-to-one breathwork with clients in greater depth as a key component of the final year. The focus includes, amongst other things, taking a medical history, client reports, the therapeutic setting and process observation, as well as consolidating and building on what has already been learnt at all levels.

In addition, we explore the psychotherapeutic underpinnings of breathwork, psychological disorders, and working with transference and counter-transference. We also cover the fundamentals of coaching and how it differs from traditional talk therapy. Another key focus is on breathwork in relation to health issues and ailments.

The module also includes coherent breathing according to Elliott and Ehrmann, NIA – Neurointegrative Breathing according to Lange, and integrative breathing work whilst seated according to Plateel-Deur.

In this module, the theory and practice of professional one-to-one work with conscious breathing are explored in greater depth and put into practice through shared discussion.

Sunday: 10.00 – approx. 16.00, lectures, exercises, processes, partner work: breathing sessions as therapist and client, joint conclusion
